is this for real?

introducing the macbook touch...
"Think MacBook screen, possibly a bit smaller, in glass with iPhone-like, but fuller-featured multi-touch. Gesture library. Full Mac OS X. This is why they bought P.A. Semi. Possibly with Immersion's haptic tech. Slot-loading SuperDrive. Accelerometer. GPS. Pretty expensive to produce initially, but sold at "low" price that will reduce margins. Apple wants to move these babies. And move they will. This is some sick shit. App Store-compatible, able to run Mac apps, too. By October at the latest."
FROM GIZMODO.COM
rice restores a wet digital camera

i wish i knew this trick years ago when one of my cameras fell in the lake. :( but just in case this happens to anyone, here's a method to try if you want to salvage your camera (or cellphone or any other electronic device that gets wet)...

natalie's camera pre-soaking
step 1: take it out of the water immediatelystep 2: DON'T turn it on. (doing so can short-circuit the battery)step 3: take out the battery and the memory/sim cardstep 4: dry, dry, dry it out as much as you can. (do not use a blow dryer or put it in a microwave. ever.)step 5: place device in bowl of uncooked rice overnight.

we didn't have a lot of rice since we weren't at home but this little bit proved sufficient.btw, also click here to see our little video on this subject
step 6: inspect the device carefully for grains that might still be stuck in it before turning it on.

first proof that it works (excuse the messy room) rice rocks my socks!

watch out for more tips in the future!

sleepless

i've been awake for more than 36 hours now. i have not slept since saturday morning. imagine that. surprisingly, i don't really feel sleepy. i do feel lousy coz i have a cold - again. i feel like crap.
i went to b&h today but they were closed. so i decided to check out adorama but i wasn't feeling the vibe of the place (even tho they had the d80 in stock). so, no camera yet.
my body is telling me i need to get some sleep. my immune system is down. but for some reason there are too many things going on in my mind. my brain is on overdrive - too busy thinking, too busy worrying... i wish it's just as easy to put your brain on sleep mode just like how you put your computer on hibernate. alas that is the complexity of the human mind.
